Juhannuskallio trail in Ruka, Kuusamo

Juhannuskallio is relatively small but very beautiful part of Valtavaara-Pyhävaara nature reserve right next to slopes of Ruka ski resort. It is recommended that visitors remain on the marked trail as there are threatened plant species growing in the area, which are best protected if people do not step on them. 

Starting at the Juhannuskalliontie road, the trail meanders to the top of Juhannuskallio Cliffs and back along the sam route. The trail has some steep sections but is otherwise easy to walk, and the trail is signposted with poles marked with green paint.

"Juhannus" in Finnish means Midsummer, and this trail is a great choice for those who want to admire the Midnight Sun and white nights of the north in the summertime.
