Just a few hours before the professionals hold their final on September 1st in front of cheering spectators, amateur cyclists can also enjoy the atmosphere of the Deutschland Tour. Participants still have three months to prepare for the Jedermann Tour. Registration is done at Deutschland-Tour.com/Jedermann.
Both routes of the Jedermann Tour run on very well-developed roads and promise a great atmosphere along the route thanks to many town passages. Also participating in the Jedermann Tour is the “Team Thüringen,” led by biathlete Erik Lesser and other prominent Thuringian winter sports athletes as team captains.
Discover Thuringia – 113 kilometers
After the route splits in Marienthal, the ambitious hobby cyclists on the long route pass through Thörey and reach Arnstadt after 19 kilometers. The passage through the city festival in the hometown of Marcel Kittel offers participants only a short moment to catch their breath, because from here the challenges begin. The next hour of racing leads steadily uphill and offers special features such as a rising cobblestone section in Elgersburg and the valley of the Wilde Gera. Here the highlight of the long route is announced: the climb over 5 kilometers with an average gradient of 7% to Oberhof.
Once this difficulty is overcome, there is triple reason for joy for the hobby cyclists: on 800 meters, not only the roof of this year’s Jedermann Tour and the refreshment station are reached, but from here the Jedermann Tour participants ride entirely on the professional route of the Deutschland Tour. For professionals and hobby cyclists alike, the way leads steadily downhill back to Erfurt. Passing by the nature paradise Thüringeti in Crawinkel, it goes through Arnstadt back to the grand finale at the Erfurt trade fair.
