Silvretta - Arlberg Round (Arlberg Round)

A wonderful route from Montafon via Silvretta and Arlberg.
The circular route starts at Aktivpark Montafon and leads through the towns of St. Gallenkirch-Gortipohl and Gaschurn to the toll station of the Silvretta High Alpine Road at Partenen. In 36 hairpin bends, it zigzags over the most popular mountain pass road up past Vermuntsee to the Silvretta Lake in Silvretta Bielerhöhe at 2,032m. An impressive panorama lies at your feet, above all the highest mountain in Vorarlberg, Piz Buin at 3,312 meters high. There are several places to stop for refreshment. Then it goes fast through the Paznaun Valley and on Tyrolean ground down to Galtür. The next towns are Ischgl, Kappl, and See until you reach Pians. There you turn left and follow the old road up to Strengen. Then you continue and reach Flirsch a little later. The next towns are Schnann, Steinig, Pettneu am Arlberg until you reach St. Anton am Arlberg. It is also recommended to take another rest here; there are several places to eat in the town center. Strengthened and somewhat rested, you can then start the next proper climb. Over the Arlberg road, it goes steeply up again and you then reach St. Christoph and the Arlberg Pass. Shortly thereafter, you cross the border again and cycle back onto Vorarlberg territory. Then begins the descent. Via the winding Arlberg Pass road, you reach Stuben and shortly afterward Langen am Arlberg. Over the Klostertal with the towns of Klösterle, Wald am Arlberg, Dalaas and Braz, you reach Stallehr (just before Bludenz). After the cement factory in Stallehr, you turn left and follow the Montafon road. You pass the towns of Lorüns, St. Anton im Montafon and Gantschier back to the starting point (Aktivpark Montafon) in Schruns-Tschagguns.
Emergency equipment (spare tube, tools, pump) is highly recommended.
