After a restful night at Capanna Borgna, the new day begins with a breathtaking panorama. On a steep stony path, you reach Bocchetta di Rognoi. From here, if the view is good, you can see Val della Porta and Alpe Mognora. Those who wish can climb up to Pizzo di Vogorno (approx. 1 hour, red-white trail, not managed by Ascona-Locarno Tourism).
The descent from the Bocchetta is also very steep and stony. Shortly, grassy sections appear, and the remaining descent to Alpe Rognoi becomes more pleasant. From time to time you encounter some ruins, and below Alpe Rognoi there are some exposed sections. Leaving the rocks, the path winds along the "Riale di Carecchio", with many little waterfalls.
Val Carecchio is a long valley that, through dense forests, reaches Lavertezzo. Here the tired hiker finds refreshment in the emerald waters of the Verzasca, after which they can take the bus (Locarno-Tenero-Sonogno line).
