Find out how the people in the Baltic Sea Holiday Land tick, what moves them, what their hearts burn for—what’s on the table today and how things were in the past? On the cultural route, you can discover old estates, high towers, almost forgotten ways of life, and modern handicrafts. An exciting route for everyone who wants to get to know and love the endearing-rough nature of the North German Baltic Sea Holiday Land inhabitants better.
A shell on a blue background guides you along the route.

You start at Dahme's cultural landmark, the DAHMESHÖVED LIGHTHOUSE. It is not only a navigation marker but also a symbol of good luck for wedding couples and a sign of hope: GDR refugees called it the "Light of Freedom," which served as orientation during their escape across the Baltic Sea (tours from April to October at 3:00 pm, 3:30 pm, 4:00 pm, 4:30 pm; phone 0 43 64 / 49 20-0).
From the lighthouse, you have a wonderful view. Ride into Dahme and continue over DAHMERFELDE to GRUBE and visit the lovingly equipped VILLAGE MUSEUM GRUBE.
There you can learn, for example, how people used to sleep, go to school, or catch fish. A visit is also worthwhile at DUNKER’S SQUARE: here you find an impressive painting of the 1872 storm flood, and a flood mark shows the highest water level.
You will find fine wine culture at WEINSCHMECKER (Hauptstraße 54, www.weinschmecker-grube.de). But don’t enjoy too many glasses, as the route continues over the GRUBER-SEE-KOOG past Koselau along the NATURAL EXPERIENCE AREA OLDENBURGER GRABEN.
Before Sebent, turn right and cycle through the OLDENBURGER BRUCH NATURE RESERVE to OLDENBURG, reaching the cultural highlight of our tour: the OLDENBURG WALL MUSEUM. Located on the site of the former Slavic settlement Starigard, the museum shows life of the Slavs in the early Middle Ages; almost every weekend from April to October medieval events take place.
The route returns via Sipsdorf, past GUT PETERSDORF to Lensahn. Be sure to visit the MUSEUM FARM LENSAHN (see Na Tour). Mount your bike again and continue cycling to Manhagen, turn left towards MANHAGENERFELDE and enjoy the ride through meadows and fields to the next TOP STOP: turn right to HOF HAGEN with farm shop, barn café, and lively musical afternoons (Stadtfurth 8, www.hofhagen.de). Then it goes through the BORNHOLZERGEHEGE over CISMARFELDE to the B501.
Turn right to the OFL cultural capital, CISMAR. It is famous not only for its monastery but also for the lively ARTIST COLONY, its many events, exhibitions, and concerts (www.cismar.de). At BAUER BÖCKMANNS FARM SHOP (Bäderstraße 22, www.bauer-boeckmann.de) you can find fruit, vegetables, eggs, plants, and other nice things to pack in your bicycle basket.
After changing direction northwards, you can stock up at FLEISCHEREI PETERS (Bäderstraße 41, www.partypeters.de) with homemade salads and fresh cold cuts.
Then, follow the cycle path along B 501 to just before Grönwohldshorst and, following the beach path, reach another TOP STOP: HOF KLOSTERSEE offers a wide selection of organic products with Demeter certification, a farm dairy, and a farm café (Klostersee 1).
Cycle back via Klosterseeweg to GRÖNWOHLDSHORST and discover the specialties in WILDKAMMER DOMNICK (Op de Horst 39) on the left.
Hopefully not too heavily loaded, turn in Grönwohldshorst into the KELLENHUSEN STATE FOREST, passing the WATER LEVEL OAK, the fallen but still gigantic KING OAK, and the ruin of the CROWN OAK (actually Crane Oak, because cranes presumably nested there) through the forest to VOGELSANG.
Here turn right towards Dahme and take a break at RESTAURANT VOGELSANG (Vogelsang 7, www.restaurant-vogelsang.de), where every cyclist is welcome for a pause with food and drinks. Then continue to Dahme. If you still have space, make a shopping stop at HOF BOKHORST and stock up on Bioland potatoes and eggs (www.hofbokhorst.de). Then cycle leisurely back through the DAHMER MOOR to Dahmeshöved.

There is a farm dairy and a farm café at the Demeter farm in Klostersee, Klostersee 1, website www.klostersee.org.
