Hintersteiner See - a Natural Gem

In the middle of the Wilder Kaiser nature reserve, about four kilometers above the town of Scheffau, one of the most beautiful and clean mountain lakes of Tyrol - the Hintersteiner See - liest at an altitude of 883 meters.

Pure relaxation! A magical mountain lake, 56 ha big and 36 meters deep. The lake with drinking water quality has a small bathing house with a cafè on the east bank which has opened depending on the weather from the beginning of May to the end of September. An ideal starting point for hikes an mountain tours is the crystal clear natural jewel Hintersteiner see too.

On the eastern shore there is a beach with a café. (chargeable).
Parking directly on the east bank available (fee required).

Guests and citizens with a valid Wilder Kaiser GuestCard or BürgerCard can use the free hiking bus Hintersteiner See from the village center Scheffau to the lake.
