The nature trail runs right next to the sea in the area of the old shipyard, Varvi, which was at its peak in the 1850s. The 5.7 km long nature trail runs past the Varvi beach and the new residential area to the old Santaholm sawmill (now a riding school) and from there to Maivapera. Between the sawmill and Maivaperä marina you will find a campfire site. The nature trail was built by the Varvi Village Association.
Start from Varvintie, where there is a sign for the nature trail. Follow the signs for the nature trail near the sea to Virpiperänti road and return the same way.

A maritime relic, the historic rookery, or ship's dock, is located on the landfill. The pier, which carries a conservation designation, is not to be visited due to the risk of collapse, but you can admire it from the beach. While you're here, also explore the idyllic old residential area of Lapaluoto, which you can reach by walking along Virpiperän Road away from the sea. The nature trail runs alongside the peaceful beach of Varvi - grab a towel and take a dip!
