From Lunel (or Lunel-Viel), this itinerary takes you along the waterways of the Canal de Lunel and the Dardaillon, to their confluence. You'll discover the influences of the nearby Camargue and its wealth of wildlife, cross the agricultural plain with its many orchards, vineyards and cereal fields, and discover the heritage of ancient towns.
1
From the parking lot, cross the road. Take the path on the right, above the Lunel canal. Leave the town and continue along the canal on the wide track beside the fields (note the characteristic pond fauna: grey herons, egrets, etc.). Leave the track and take the footbridge straight ahead. Continue on a single-track path. Pass apple orchards, cross a second footbridge. Cross a tunnel of Provence cane. The path overlooks the canal and runs alongside farmland (fields, orchards, etc.). Reach the confluence with the Dardaillon stream.
2
Walk upstream to the right, through the riparian forest. Walk along the grassy path to the road at the entrance to the village of Saint-Nazaire-de-Pézan. Take the bridge on your left.
3
Turn right up the Dardaillon. Cross the D 110, then 300 m further on, take the right-hand path overlooking the Dardaillon and apple orchards. When you reach the D24, take the bridge over the Dardaillon, then cross the road to follow a path that runs alongside the sports fields and shared gardens (picnic tables).
4
At the road, turn right. Go straight on into the chemin du Fesc. Turn left onto the cycle path (along the D24) to reach the entrance to Lunel. Pass the Étang de l'Or traffic circle. Take Avenue des Abrivados, past the Halle Alain Le Hetet to the right bank of the canal, where you'll find the starting point.
In case of emergency, call 112.
