With a view to one of the landgrave castles, namely the one in Biedenkopf, begins the varied bike route through the Lahn valley. Through wide meadows and fields, past inviting places such as Buchenau, Caldern, Lahntal, or Cölbe, you cycle along the river to Marburg quite effortlessly. The university town, with the ensemble of its old town and the Elisabethkirche, undoubtedly sets cultural and historical highlights on this route. These include, of course, also the other landgrave castle, namely the one in Marburg.
From Biedenkopf station, take the Auweg to the right until you reach the street "im Frauental." Here, keep left and then turn right into Hospitalstraße. Now follow the signs via Eckelshausen to Kombach. In Kombach, turn right onto Straße am Forsthaus and cross the B62. At Friedensdorf, cross the Lahn and cycle parallel to the railway line to Buchenau. From Kernbach, the well-signposted cycle path leads to Caldern. Here, a visit to the Nikolaikirche with the charming atmosphere in the Paradiesgarten is recommended. By the way, the church is one of the cycling route churches of the Evangelical Church in Germany, offering seasonal worship services for cycling travelers and shelter in bad weather.
From Caldern, continue left along the Lahn via Sterzhausen and Goßfelden. Goßfelden belongs to the municipality of Lahntal, and in the local Otto-Ubbelohde-Haus, you can admire the artist’s works in his former residence and studio. Before Cölbe, you cross the river again. Passing through Cölbe and Wehrda, you finally reach the stage destination in Marburg. In the romantic old town, with its numerous places to stop and the Elisabethkirche, you can comfortably end the beautiful cycling day. And not only because of the fantastic view is the path up to the Landgrafenschloss worth it!
