Lahn Cycle Path 5th stage upstream Weilburg - Wetzlar

From the train station, follow the signs for the Lahn Cycle Path and change to the other side of the Lahn at Ahausen. Next, you will reach Löhnberg, where you cross the Lahn again. Stay on this side of the Lahn until Stockhausen. There, switch to the other side of the Lahn and cycle to Leun. From Leun, you can comfortably roll to Solms, passing through the northern edge of the town and changing the side of the Lahn at the Schluesenhaus.

If you feel up to an additional 6 kilometers on a quiet side road at Solms-Oberbiel, you should definitely visit the Grube Fortuna Visitor Mine. And of course, plan some time for a guided tour. The Altenberg Monastery invites for another detour. From Solms-Oberbiel, you then comfortably continue along the Lahn and cross the small Dill river before finally reaching Wetzlar. The stage ends at the train station.

If you do not yet know Wetzlar, you should first keep right at the Hospitalkirche and make a detour to the other side of the Lahn over the old Lahn bridge. Here, the heart of the Goethe and Optics city beats with the cathedral and the picturesque old town. Goethe meets you at every step, and an optics trail evidences Wetzlar's importance for the optical industry. The short stage still leaves plenty of time for an extensive city tour.

Trekking or touring bike (e-bike or conventional), spare tube and tools, water bottle, and weather-appropriate clothing.

The Lahn Cycle Path runs mostly on cycle paths, quiet side roads, and field paths. Please nonetheless obey the traffic regulations and be considerate of other cyclists, agricultural vehicles, and pedestrians.

The public transport connection of the Lahn Cycle Path is excellent. 

On the fifth stage, the stations Weilburg, Löhnberg, Stockhausen, Leun, Solms, Albshausen, and Wetzlar lie along the way.

The train connections in Hesse belong to the Rhine-Main Transport Association.

Between Wetzlar and Balduinstein runs the Lahn Marble Route on the Lahn Cycle Path, which provides numerous digitalized information related to the world-famous Lahn marble.

The Grube Fortuna Visitor Mine can be reached from Oberbiel on a quiet side road. An elevator cage takes visitors "underground".
