Cycling round tour to the Main

From Amorbach market square we cycle along the signposted cycle path (follow the 3-country cycle path signs) to Weilbach. On the ridge between Amorbach and Weilbach you can see the Gotthard ruin high above, where, among other things, there was a former nunnery. After passing through the village we cycle along a farm track to the Breitendiel sports ground, immediately after the underpass of the B 47 turn right towards Miltenberg. We cycle parallel to the railway line, cross it and reach Miltenberg via Breitendieler Straße with its well-known historic old town. After the visit, we take the Main cycle path back north out of town, at the Mainzer Tor height cycle to Kleinheubach. Past the St. Odilia blind garden we reach the castle park with the impressive Löwenstein Castle. We turn left into Friedenstaße, after crossing the railway tracks turn left onto "Im Mittelgewann", then follow the cycle path signs to Breitendiel. We cycle a short stretch next to the B 469, reach Breitendiel, where in the middle of the village there is a left turn signposted to the cycle path. On the same route we now cycle back to the starting point of the route, the baroque town of Amorbach. The entire route is asphalted throughout. Amorbach, founded by Benedictine monks in the 8th century, is today a small romantic baroque town with many unique sights. These include the former abbey church with famous baroque organ, the convent building with splendid Green Hall and precious library, the Amorsbrunn chapel, the rococo parish church of St. Gangolf, the Seegarten and the Templar house, one of the oldest preserved half-timbered houses.
