Posavje cycling trail

The higher points offer wonderful views of Posavje, the surrounding Slovenian landscape and neighboring Croatia. You will learn about the rich history of the region. Many restaurateurs offer very tasty food grown in Posavje in their beautifully decorated premises. Posavje winegrowers offer top wines and sparkling wines, which you can try in many brick houses and wine cellars.

The Posavje cycle route starts in Krško. Cycle along the cycle path along the Sava River to Brestanica, where you continue along the Brestanica stream to Koprivnica. Here the route leads you to Podsreda and further to Bistrica ob Sotli. This is followed by an ascent and then a descent to Bizeljska. Passing through smaller settlements, you reach Jovse, a flood plain with extensive flood meadows overgrown with shrubs, willows, oaks and alders. Ornithologists have listed around 80 species of birds here. Passing Dobova, the route continues to Brežice.
