Hike to Kaseregg Chapel

From Maria Alm at the town square (D6), follow the village street along trail no. 23 towards Krallerwinkl. From there, continue on trail no. 24 up to the Kaseregg Chapel. The view from the chapel is breathtaking and invites you to take a short break. The descent is via the same ascent path, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful landscape once again.

Self-assessment: Before each mountain tour, check your physical fitness and accurately assess your strength as well as that of your companions – especially your children! Surefootedness and being free from dizziness are often very important!

Planning and preparation: Plan each intended mountain tour carefully beforehand. Hiking maps and guides as well as information from alpine clubs and locals like mountain guides and hut hosts can be helpful.

Equipment: In the mountains, you need appropriate equipment and clothing, especially sturdy, high shoes with a grippy sole. Weather and cold protection are indispensable; the weather can often change unexpectedly.

Togetherness: Observe the 10 rules for proper interaction with grazing animals and do not leave any waste in nature!

Do not dislodge stones: Do not dislodge stones, as this can seriously endanger other hikers. Marked areas with rockfall hazard should be crossed as quickly as possible with attention and caution.

Turn back in time: This is no shame but a sign of wisdom. It becomes necessary when the weather changes, fog sets in, or when the path is too difficult or not in good condition.

Arrival coming from Salzburg: Take the A10 motorway to the Bischofshofen exit, then continue on B311 towards Bischofshofen. Follow the Hochkönig federal road/B164 to Maria Alm.
Arrival coming from Innsbruck/Kufstein: Take Loferer Straße/B178 towards St. Johann i.T., then continue via the Hochkönig federal road/B164 through Saalfelden to Maria Alm.
A valid vignette is required for use of the Austrian motorway and expressway network. Carrying a first aid kit, warning triangle, and safety vest is also mandatory. More information at Asfinag.

From Kaseregg, the hiking trail leads not only along both banks of the Krallerbach back towards Maria Alm and the Rohrmoos inn, but also allows a visit to the Kaseregg Cave, which is located in the Zwieselegg Gorge.
