Easy circular hike Hinterthal - Sonnleiten

The beautiful circular hike starts from the church in Hinterthal on trail no. 31. Simply follow this trail all the way as it will lead you back to the starting point.

Self-assessment: Before every mountain hike, check your physical suitability and correctly assess your strength and that of your companions – especially your children! Surefootedness and a head for heights are often very important!

Planning and preparation: Plan every intended mountain hike carefully. Hiking maps and guides as well as information from alpine clubs and locals like mountain guides and hut hosts can be helpful.

Equipment: In the mountains, you need appropriate equipment and clothing, especially sturdy, high footwear with grip soles. Weather and cold protection are essential; weather can change suddenly.

Togetherness: Follow the 10 rules for proper interaction with grazing animals and do not leave any waste in nature!

Do not dislodge stones: Do not dislodge stones, as this can seriously endanger other hikers. Marked areas with danger of rockfall should be crossed quickly, attentively, and cautiously.

Turn around in time: This is not shameful but a sign of wisdom. It becomes necessary if the weather turns, fog sets in, or if the path is too difficult or in poor condition.

Arrival from Salzburg: Take the A10 motorway to the Bischofshofen exit, then take the B311 towards Bischofshofen. Follow the Hochkönig federal road/B164 to Maria Alm.
Arrival from Innsbruck/Kufstein: Take the Loferer Straße/B178 towards St. Johann i.T., then via the Hochkönig federal road/B164 through Saalfelden to Maria Alm.
A valid vignette is required for using Austrian motorways and expressways. Carrying a first aid kit, warning triangle, and safety vest is mandatory. More information at Asfinag.
