Village walking route "Small village tour"

Start to the left in front of the service center and follow the street to the municipal office directly next to the street. There you cross the zebra crossing and the bridge to the village mill and continue walking to the left along the "ski trail" until the bridge at the Spar market. This one is also crossed. Then stroll past the Hotel Alpenrose, a short distance to the Amberg House, where you turn left and go to the Knappenheim (mining museum). Take the street downhill to the village church and further into the village. 

Self-assessment: Before each mountain hike, check your physical fitness and correctly assess your strength as well as that of your companions – especially that of your children! Sure-footedness and freedom from dizziness are often very important!

Planning and preparation: Plan every intended mountain hike carefully in advance. Hiking maps and guides as well as information from alpine clubs and locals such as mountain guides and hut hosts can be helpful.

Equipment: In the mountains, you need appropriate equipment and clothing, especially sturdy, high footwear with a grippy sole. Weather and cold protection are essential; the weather can often change unexpectedly.

Togetherness: Follow the 10 rules  for proper interaction with grazing animals and do not leave any litter in nature!

Do not kick stones loose: Do not kick stones loose, as this can seriously endanger other hikers. Marked areas with rockfall risk should be crossed as quickly as possible and with attention and caution.

Turn back in time: This is not a shame but a sign of prudence. It becomes necessary if the weather changes, fog moves in, or the path is too difficult or not in good condition.

Arrival from Bischofshofen: 

Take the A10 motorway to the Bischofshofen exit, then follow the Hochkönig federal road/B164 to Mühlbach.

Arrival from Saalfelden: 

Take the Loferer Straße/B178 towards St. Johann i.T., then over the Hochkönig federal road/B164 via Saalfelden to Mühlbach.
