BTB - Bar To Bar - Stage 2A: Cascina Basso - San Rocco Seno d'Elvio

Variant of stage 2A of the Bar to Bar which leads us to the heart of the Langa of Barberesco through a route rich in history.

A nice detour from Cascina Alberta (Treiso), if we follow the road downhill and then turn left, will take us to the cool valley of the rio (the Seno dElvio) whose name still recalls the birthplace of the Emperor Publio Elvio Pertinace (reigned for just 90 days, but left a great memory of self). The hamlet of San Rocco Seno dElvio is the only part of Alba authorised to produce Barbaresco and it is home to one of the long-standingwineries of the Langhe, that Bricco del Drago from where the Gran Maestro De Giacomi launched a series of primordial and admirable initiatives on which much of the good fortune of these hills is based. Of all,we mention that miracle of homecooking recipe book that remains Nonna Gnia, a gastronomic bible of the cuisine of Langa that has been translated into many languages. The Bricco del Drago hosts a private ethnographic museum with, among others, the oldest bottle of wine with a Barbaresco label (1870).
