From Forchtenstein Castle to the Landsee Castle Ruins
Zdjęcia naszych użytkowników
Along scenic trails and unspoiled forest paths, this hiking trail leads you through the impressive landscapes of the Rosalia-Kogelberg Nature Park and across the forested heights of the Landseer Berge...
Near the Rosalienhäuser, we recommend the short, steep climb to the Rosalien Chapel. From there, you’ll have one of the most beautiful views in Burgenland—down to Forchtenstein Castle and far into the Hungarian Plain, all the way to Lake Neusiedl and the Vienna Basin.
In Schwarzenbach, the open-air museum—located not far from the route—the observation tower, and the Celtic festival grounds with their animal attractions are all worth a visit.
The destination of the hike is the impressive Landsee Castle Ruins—one of the largest castle ruins in Central Europe. The imposing complex tells the story of the region’s eventful history and serves as a striking conclusion to this culturally and historically rich tour.
The fairly challenging route can be completed as an ambitious day hike or divided into several daily stages. This allows plenty of time to fully experience the diverse landscapes, cultural sights, and tranquility of the two nature parks. A relaxing hiking experience for anyone who wants to enjoy exercise, nature, and history at their own pace.
You should always bring good shoes, athletic clothing, protection from rain and sun, and a bottle of drinking water.
