A special custom in the mysterious Raunächte nights around the turn of the year is the burning of incense in the mountain regions. During the traditional walks through Zauchensee's snow-covered landscape, the custom of driving away evil spirits with fragrant herbs and resins and asking for luck and blessings for the coming year is practiced. The walkers, who also feel the effect of incense on health and well-being, are accompanied by singing and brass music.
