Bike route - "On the Hohe Straße into the Saale Valley" - Thuringia

Enjoy a relaxing bike route along the Saale through the picturesque region around Rudolstadt! You will also ride through Orlamünde, a charming place with a historic atmosphere, and cross the idyllic landscape with fields, forests, and meadows.  From Orlamünde, you climb via the small, idyllic villages Dienststädt and Kleinbucha to the so-called "Hohe Straße". Here you can collect your daily kilometers away from any hustle and bustle through quiet forests on well-developed forest paths. Time and again, there are opportunities to let your gaze wander into the distance. The bike route continues to Großkochberg, which is particularly well-known among connoisseurs of Goethe and to his amateur theater. From here, the route goes back down into the beautiful Saale valley.

A visit to the impressive Heidecksburg in Rudolstadt is worth it; with its baroque architecture and view over the Saale valley, it represents a real highlight of your route.
