Friedrich Schiller is probably one of the best-known guests of the former Meiningen district. On this round, places of his stay are shown and his life story is presented to the participant. The arrival at Anton-Ullrich-Straße and the first meeting with librarian Reinwald, his later brother-in-law, the inn "Zum Stern" in Untermaßfeld (meeting point with Reinwald), and Bauerbach with Schiller House are visited. His Sturm und Drang phase is vividly illustrated in some correspondence to different addressees. The focal point is the Schiller place Bauerbach. A picnic is planned on the meadow of the Wolzogen manor house. A museum tour is optional.
From Elisabethenburg Castle to Anton-Ullrich-Straße (stop 1), Henneberger Straße, Walkmühlenweg, Untermaßfeld (stop 2), via Speicher Bauerbach to Ritschenhausen on the Werra Valley cycle path, Wölfershausen, Bibra (stop 3) and further via "Kätzerode" to Bauerbach (stop 4) on the Grabfeld cycle route. Return via country road towards Ritschenhausen, turn-off cycle path "Am Zehner" to Wölfershausen, via Ritschenhausen (stop 5) and U-feld back to Meiningen, Schillerstraße (last stop Schillereiche), via castle park, Eselsbrücke back to the start.
Option in Bauerbach: children's theater play "Puss in Boots" at 3 p.m. at the Bauerbach natural theater
