We ride from Genthin via Parchem Castle to the Elbe-Havel Canal. We cross this in Mühlenberg with the part running south and in Parey with the Elbe lock the part flowing north. Now we follow the Elbe to Ferchland and further along the old arms of the Elbe until we reach the first special highlight of the day, the Jerichow monastery, which already greets us from afar with the towers of the monastery church.
After visiting the monastery, we continue down the Elbe, soon seeing the medieval townscape of the Hanseatic city of Tangermünde.
We reach this only after an ascent over the road bridge across the Elbe and a short ride into the town from the federal road.
Enjoy an evening in the Emperor's city and Hanseatic city of Tangermünde, considered the most beautiful small town in Germany, with its numerous restaurants in the streets.
From Genthin we follow the signs of the well-marked Altmark circular route towards Hohenseeden.
From here via Güsen and Parey follow the Elbe downstream until reaching Ferchland.
Through the village of Ferchland and along the old arm of the Elbe towards Jerichow.
From Jerichow via Fischbeck to the road bridge B188 over the Elbe.
Over the Elbe bridge of the federal road we reach the west bank of the Elbe.
From here we head south a few kilometers until we arrive at the town center of Tangermünde.
A good bicycle and drinks.
The Altmark circular route is well signposted and free of danger points.
By RE 2 from Berlin or Stendal to Genthin.
From Tangermünde by train to Stendal and from there back to Berlin, Hanover, or Magdeburg.
Visiting the monastery in Jerichow is a must on this stage.
This stage can also be comfortably done as a day trip from Berlin or Magdeburg and Hanover.
