Barrel bottom tour 6

From the market square in Maikammer it goes on the wine route, following the signs with the barrel bottom no. 6 (symbol), south towards Edenkoben. After leaving the village, take the third exit in the roundabout and immediately turn right onto the cycle path. At the next possibility, turn left into a Weinbergsweg, then always straight ahead, cross the L516 and the railway line. There is a pedestrian bridge over the A65. After the bridge turn left and drive parallel to the motorway. Turn right into the next farm road (concrete slabs) and turn left at a large tree to the castle pond. At the next fork in the road half right along the lake, then turn right in the direction of Kirrweiler-Ortsmitte. After the playground, turn left over the bridge into the street "Am Schlossgarten". Follow the green bike path sign to the right, through a vine pergola into Schlossstrasse to the church. Turn right at the church and follow Kirchstrasse to the Edelhof. Pass there on the right and turn left before the Kropsbach to Marktstrasse. Turn right into Marktstraße and drive along the L 542 to Venningen; From the Kirrweiler sports field, a bike path leads alongside the road. In Venningen at the roundabout straight through the village. After the Venningen sports field on the left side, you will find a group of banks on the right hand side. So far, about 10 km have been cycled. Then follow the cycle path signs towards Edenkoben. At the next intersection left, then immediately right again over the motorway bridge. Cross the railway bridge and also the L 516. Then continue straight on Blücherstraße into the village. At the T-junction turn right briefly and at the end immediately left again into Weinstrasse. At the second street corner turn right into Radebuger Straße, continue straight to the end. At the bend in the right of way, do not follow the priority road, but turn left into Klosterstraße. Now it's a long way uphill and straight ahead past the “Heilsbruck Monastery” to the “Herrenhaus” artists' house. At the crossing there, follow the road half right. Take the 2nd path (asphalted) to the right, which leads to St. Martin. Here it is pretty even straight ahead with a view of the Rhine plain past nice resting places. Later the “Madonna in the Vines” greets you and the path leads past the “Bildhäusel” to the left, then immediately to the right and then left into the town of St. Martin. After a right bend, turn left and immediately right again into Friedhofstrasse up the mountain. At the end turn left and turn right at the chapel into Jahnstraße. This leads uphill to the vineyards. Now it's finally downhill again, past a beautiful group of banks with a wine press. At a T-junction, continue to follow the signs to the right (Kapellenweg and “Mandelhöhe” wine trail). Past the Alsterweiler district and the “historic vineyard” of the Maikammer community, then half left through a vine pergola and in front of the Alsterweiler chapel, the path then leads right into Maikammer. Here it goes down Hartmannstrasse until the Catholic Church is on the left. A few more meters along the North Wine Route and the circular route ends again at the market square.

With the regional train from Neustadt or Landau, get off at the Maikammer-Kirrweiler train station. From here, the Maikammer market square can be easily reached via the main street in Kirrweiler via Kirchstraße and Neugasse towards Marktstraße.
