Niederwaldkirchen

Niederwaldkirchen in the district of Rohrbach is located 30 km north of Linz in the charming hilly landscape of the Upper Mühlviertel. The market town with 1800 inhabitants is 28 km² in size. In addition to the main town, 12 villages belong to the community area.

Dominating the townscape is the striking building complex consisting of the large historic parsonage in baroque style and the church, which is well worth seeing. There are close ties to the neighboring parish of St. Ulrich with about 650 inhabitants, which is partly part of the parish of Niederwaldkirchen.

There are five interesting and well signposted circular routes for hikers in the market town of Niederwaldkirchen.

• Marktrunde: The 4 km long Marktrunde offers beautiful views around Niederwaldkirchen.
• Marterlweg: Old cross pillars, wayside shrines and chapels can be found on the 9 km long Marterlweg. Documentations prove that there are exceptionally many small monuments in the municipality. The oldest cross column dates back to the 1500&039;s. Each small monument could tell a story.
• # Panoramaweg: A lot of variety - between Pesenbach and beautiful panoramic views over the Mühlviertel - offers the 8 km long Panorama Trail - with a refreshing Kneipp bath in the Pesenbach at the Jagerwehr.
• Mühlenweg Steinbach: If you want to explore the idyllic Pesenbach valley with several former mills and saws, you will find the 7 km long Mühlenweg Steinbach.
• Pesenbach-Hansberg-Round: On the 840 m high Hansberg leads the Pesenbach-Hansberg round with 17 km. Also the sound poet of the oö. national anthem, Hans Schnopfhagen, wandered gladly on the Hansberg, where a memorial plaque reminds of him.
