Long-distance hiking trail Nibelungengau 8: Krummnussbaum - Persenbeug

<p>The stage starts at the fire brigade panorama board in Krummnussbaum and leads through the village. Then it continues on the asphalt road Krummnussbaum – Holzern to the Renner inn. At Maria Steinbründl, there is a small pilgrimage chapel that can be visited. The path then leads over the Eichberg to Sarling with the possibility to stop at the Donauhafen inn. The stage continues along the Danube on bike paths, with some traffic, to the main square in Ybbs. The renovated old town center with its romantic courtyards, alleys, and townhouses is a special highlight. Then it goes a bit upstream past the oldest Danube power plant Ybbs-Persenbeug. Visitors gain exciting insights into how energy generation through hydropower works. On the bike path over the Danube bridge, it goes to Persenbeug to the Danube shore, where the stage ends. At Persenbeug/Ybbs on the Danube, the Strudengau transitions into the Nibelungengau.</p>

<p>Please observe the following tips and notes to make your hiking holiday a pleasant experience:<br />· Stay on the marked paths.<br />· Wear mountain/hiking boots.<br />· Use hiking poles.<br />· Rainwear is always advisable.<br />· Take the hiking map with you.<br />· Carry enough drinking water.<br />· Please do not leave your rubbish on the trail.<br />· Respect the sensitive habitats of the plant and animal world.
</p><p>Please note that mountain biking and horseback riding are generally prohibited on the Nibelungengau long-distance trail in the forest and on private forest roads. Walking/using the suggested routes is at your own risk and responsibility.</p>

<p>Krummnussbaum is accessible via the A1 West motorway, exit Pöchlarn. At the exit, take the 2nd exit in the roundabout towards Pöchlarn. Through the village, after the fire brigade (about 100-150 meters), turn right towards Krummnussbaum.</p><p>Coming from Krems or Grein via the Wachau road (B3), cross the Danube bridge at Klein Pöchlarn. <p>You can travel with ÖBB to the Pöchlarn or Krummnussbaum train station - <a href="www.oebb.at">timetable query</a>. From Pöchlarn station, you can take the bus to Krummnussbaum - <a href="fahrplan.oebb.at/bin/query.exe/dn&quo... information</a>. </p><p>We recommend arriving by car as public transport does not cover a continuous connection.</p>

<p>Parking is possible in the center of Krummnussbaum or at the Danube shore in Persenbeug.</p>
