From Mühldorf, we ride via Trandorf to the Nonnersdorfer Kreuz, where we marvel at the impressive panorama of the Alpine foothills on the descent to Nonnersdorf. From the pilgrimage site of Maria Laach, we climb the Hochjauerling, which gives us a magnificent view: We marvel at the vineyard terraces of the Wachau with the Danube river and can even make out the silhouette of the city of Vienna on a clear day! From there, we cycle along the Heuweg, where we can repeatedly catch delightful views of the Danube valley, into the Spitzer Graben with its steep vineyard terraces and back to Mühldorf.
Respectful interaction with other forest users or hunting and forestry staff is as natural as avoiding litter. The Biker Fair Play rules are meant to embody these principles and can be found both on analog maps and various websites. Here are the rules in detail:
Use of marked bike routes is only allowed during contractually fixed periods: March, October from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm; April, September from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm; May to August from 7:00 am – 7:00 pmRespectful treatment of landowners and hunting and forestry personnel!Consideration for other forest users!Ride at half sight with controlled speed!Be cautious regarding work machines, wood or potholes on the roadway, grazing livestock, and motor vehicle traffic (forest roads are operational areas and workplaces)!Observe the road traffic regulations!Consider cleanliness in nature!Check equipment and wear helmets!Riding off the routes and outside of the permitted times is illegal. Observe riding bans and closures!Use of bike routes at your own risk!By car: Via the A1 to Melk and the B3 to Spitz and Mühldorf or via the S5 to Krems and the B3 to Spitz and Mühldorf.
