TRAIL CIRCUIT: AGAINST WINDS AND TIDES

Devil's Hole
Facing the Devil's Hole, set off on the trail that runs along the corniche. The first section offers a pleasant warm-up with narrow paths that lead you to discover many small coves and rocky formations. A few minutes later, you will arrive at the foot of the famous Grosse Terre lighthouse.

Le Pilours
As the beautiful landscapes follow one another, the route offers an exclusive view of the splendid Grosse Terre villa. This segment ends with a brief passage in front of the terrace of the Pilours restaurant, giving access to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Pays de St Gilles Croix de Vie.

Boisvinet District
For the pleasure of the eyes and legs, you will descend the avenue of the Corniche, allowing you to admire the elegant parade of beautiful villas, culminating spectacularly along the Boisvinet district. After passing the small pier, the route offers an opportunity to admire the landscape of the Bay of L'Adon via a gradual descent.

Joséphine Tower
Then turn right to follow the trail that skirts the back of the Writers of the Sea building. Surprise, it will lead you close to the Joséphine Tower, an essential emblem of the Croix de Vie district (built in 1850).

Downstream Light
Next, return to Jean Cristau Avenue. After passing the dock, just before the light, take the narrow and charming paved promenade located between the railway and the quay. This is your chance to marvel at the concentration of numerous small boats lining the port area, not to forget the discreet yet appreciated downstream light!

Fishing Port
The route invites you to explore the fishing port. As you walk along the docks, marvel at the colorful parade of boats. Perhaps you will be encouraged by the permanent choir of seabirds from St Gilles. Disorientation guaranteed!

Marina
Continue towards the roundabout, once engaged, slip into the passage immediately to your right, heading to the paid parking lot located opposite the auction building. A few meters later, immerse yourself fully in the marina district by crossing Marcel Ragon promenade. After walking up the promenade, treat yourself to a short crossing of the Vie river by taking the Concorde bridge. Once in the St Gilles district, turn immediately to your right and follow the faithful port and river quay to then pass through the lock.

Garenne Pier
Change of atmosphere, the Marie Beaucaire promenade offers you a different view of the ports with a segment that takes you to the end of the Garenne dune. Your effort will be rewarded by a panorama opening towards the open sea. All that remains is to continue along the large pier which will lead you to the light.

Devil's Hole
On the return, you will have to overcome a section that will excite climbing enthusiasts with the ascent of the Corniche avenue. The festivities will continue to regain the Grosse Terre villa. Hold on, just a few more meters, and you can take the time to contemplate the landscape once you arrive at the Devil's Hole! A well-deserved break.
