Maggernig peak (Makernig peak) from Rollbahn/Großfragant

Along the hiking path on the “Rollbahn” it goes virtually without ascent from the parking lot to the Fraganter Hut. From here, along path 147 to the lower Egger Alm, following the valley up past the Kofler Hut to the Schobertörl.
Here, the path from the Sadnighaus in Astental also joins. The ascent then becomes significantly steeper: switchbacks lead up to the Makernigscharte, and still steep, although not particularly difficult, we reach the summit.
Descent: back to the Makernigscharte and here turn right descending through the Striedental via the marked trail to the Fraganter Hut.

Variant:
Alternatively, on the descent from the Makernigscharte to the Fraganter Hut, the path over the "Bretterich" can also be chosen. Attention, only sparsely marked, partly exposed, absolute surefootedness required – but very rewarding due to the abundance of flowers (edelweiss!).

From the Mölltal federal road in Außerfragant (municipality of Flattach) near the church, turn off towards Laas-Grafenberg. From Grafenberg, take the toll road with an automatic barrier to the Rollbahn parking lot.

Alternatively, the route can be started with about 30 minutes additional ascent time from Innerfragant.
