You can hike to Jamnik from the old village of Kropa, famous for its unique architecture and history. Kropa was an important blacksmith centre in the past and, with its preserved architectural and technical heritage, remains an interesting village to visit.
The trail leads you from the village centre to the Church of Mother of God and further on through beautiful forest. After an hour of hiking you will reach the main road Kropa - Jamnik. For a short distance you walk by the road and you will already see your goal, church of St. Primus and Felician on the other side of the green valley. You continue first on the road and then take the path that goes just underneath the main road towards Jamnik. Last part of the trail offers beautiful views in all directions.
The trail starts in Kropa Old town, near the water-reservoir. The path goes from the other side of the road next to the playground area. To begi the trail, you can follow the signs for "KovaÄkova pot". The signs will lead you past the Church of Mother of God and further up to "Barigla". From there many paths lead to different directions and you follow the one going up-right towards "Jamnik".
When you reach the main road, turn left. Then turn to the first path going down from the road towards the houses. Walk by the house and stay on this path. Continue on this path untill you see the church of St. Primus and Felician in front of you.
Use the same way down to return to Kropa.
Pohodni čevlji, pijača.
Part of the trail is on main roads. It's a local road, but still, be careful.
You can reach Kropa from the direction of Radovljica/Bled or from Kranj via Podnart. Two picturesque (and quite winding) approaches can also be taken from Železniki (via Jamnik) and from the motorway exit at Brezje (via Globoko and Zgornja Dobrava).
There is a small public parking area near the water-reservoir in Kropa, just where the trail starts. Parking is free.
When in Kropa, you can visit the Iron-forging museum as well.
