Cerklje na Gorenjskem

The municipality of Cerklje na Gorenjskem lies at the point where the Kranj Plain meets the mountainous and hilly terrain of the Kamnik Alps and the Tunjice Hills to the east. This duality of the landscape is reflected in numerous natural and social phenomena. It dictates the way of life of the people who live here, and the activities and characteristics related to it.

Numerous excursion destinations and sights of interest are available in this relatively small area. The ski slopes of Krvavec are justly famous. Marked trails lead to the peaks of Štefanja Gora, Šenturška Gora, Ambrož and Krvavec and there are cycling trails in the mountains and lowland areas. Parachuting and paragliding are also popular.

Besides the churches that adorn most of the settlements in the area, other sites of cultural interest include Strmol Castle with its park, the monastery and church in Adergas, the Hribar Villa, the memorial park commemorating notable figures, and much more.

After an active day exploring the area you can get your strength back in a traditional local inn or find somewhere to stay the night and continue your adventures the next day.
