This beautiful hike is also particularly suitable for older people and families with baby carriages, as you can choose your route along the forest road and hike back the same way if you like. The Wiesen/Lanzenkirchen viewing tower on the Steinkogel was built on the border between Burgenland and Lower Austria. The tower is 15 meters high and offers magnigicent views. On one side you can see the Schneeberg, the Steinfeld and the Bucklige Welt, on the other you can look out over the entire Wulka Valley as far as Lake Neusiedl. The Wulka Valley is known for its fertile soils from the ancient seas. The delicious Rosalia DAC Rosé wine also grows there. Chilly loungers and benches with tables invite you to linger and enjoy a snack. Treat yourself to a glass or two of the Rosalia vintners´fine wines.
You start your hike from the parking lot before the last hairpin bend to the Rosalia houses. Coming from Forchtenstein, you will find a large parking lot on the right-hand side where you can park your car free charge. If you are arriving by public transport, the bus stop is 100 meters away. Walk past the barrier and keep to the forest road until reach the Tobiaskreuz fork. Once there, take the forest road on the right. Follow this until you reach the fork in the road, where you take the left-hand path. After a short stretch, you have already reached the viewing tower.
