Blaufränkischweg Horitschon

The Blaufränkischweg Horitschon is a project of the local Horitschon-Unterpetersdorf tourism association in cooperation with the winegrowers' association and the community of Horitschon. The Blaufränkischweg redesigns the already existing but aging 1st Burgenland Red Wine Educational Trail, expanding it into a circular hiking route and systematically showing connecting points to the Burgenland cycling network. The Blaufränkischweg is equipped with 13 large and numerous smaller information boards on the topic of wine and a continuous signage system. In addition, the rest area "at the old press" offers a place for a picnic or - as part of a guided hike - for a wine tasting.
The information boards describe the vegetation and work processes throughout a vineyard year, provide information on the history, geography, and climate of the place, and primarily highlight the significance of the Blaufränkisch grape variety for the community of Horitschon. Special attention is also paid to the vineyards, historical features, and, of course, the people behind the wine - the local winemakers...
