The Laber is one of the most beautiful lookout mountains in the German Alpine region. Experience the fantastic panoramic view over the Estergebirge, Karwendel, Wetterstein to the Wilder Kaiser on this hike. With this panorama, the effort of the ascent is quickly forgotten and the coffee on the terrace of the Laberhaus tastes twice as good.
The starting point of the hike is the parking lot at the Erlebnisbad WellenBerg in Oberammergau. From here, walk past the valley station of the Laber cable car and continue following the signposted route over the Shartenköpfe. Initially, the path winds alternately through mountain forest and open areas before the view opens up into the Graswang Valley. At the height of the Schartenkopf (1636m), there are repeatedly magnificent views of the Graswang Valley and the Zugspitze.
Continuing to climb steadily, you reach the Laber and the serviced Laberhaus. It is worth staying a little longer on the terrace here before returning the same way or taking the Laber cable car back to Oberammergau.
