Naturbadesee Altausseer See

The lake is 3 km long, up to 1 km wide, and is surrounded to the north and east by the foothills of the Totes Gebirge. The village of Altaussee lies directly on the western shore. The lake’s catchment area covers 54 km² and lies entirely within the Totes Gebirge.

Lake Altaussee is crystal-clear. The water has a slightly dark blue hue. This is why Lake Altaussee is also known as the ‘dark blue inkwell’.
