Narciarstwo biegowe Villar d'Arène - Pays de la Meije

In a majestic location, ten km of cross-country trails with diverse but easy profiles are available for hikers and sportsmen.

This area is ideally suited for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. You will also find a toboggan run, a Nordic walking path, a natural ice rink. The tracks and routes are all in small and medium loops, relatively flat, in undergrowth, valley floor and above for those who bypass the small hamlet of the Pied du Col.

The mountain environment of the village is exceptional, at the gates of the Ecrins National Park and at the foot of mythical peaks including La Meije.

Although the upper Romanche valley faces towards Oisans, Villar d´Arène and La Grave are the only towns on this slope of the Col du Lautaret to be part of the Hautes-Alpes department.

Villar d'Arène and its hamlets, the Pied du Col and Les Cours, still have a heritage of character today: traditional houses, chapels and fountains punctuate the visit. Moreover, the course "Over the fountains" is one of the visits not to be missed, as is the mill-ecomuseum.
