Where the valley at its widest, you will come to the village of Unser Frau/Madonna di Senales (lit: Our Lady). Between some ancient farmhouses, you will find many new buildings. The pilgrimage church looks far into the valley. Worship of the small statue of Mary goes back over seven centuries; it is the oldest documented pilgrimage church in Tyrol. Not far from the church, you come to the Schnals ArcheoParc with a direct view of the site where in to the habitat of the ‚Iceman‘ was found. This new adventure museum with authentic huts gives you some insight
into the habitat and the circumstances of the Iceman, who was found in 1991.
However, Madonna di Senales was not only interesting during Ötzi’s times, but even today is still a starting point for many hiking trip and mountain tours. For winter guests, there is a cross-country trail available or you can enjoy the outdoor ice-skating rink and the curling lanes. The ski resort of Maso Corto is also found nearby.
