Stage 2: Capanna Arena-Alpe di Porcaresc-Vergeletto

From the Capanna Alpe Arena (June-October), follow the panoramic path through the alpine landscape along the valley basin to the Alpe di Porcaresc. In summer the alpine pasture is grazed by cattle and from here you have a wonderful view of the valley, which lies in front of you like an amphitheatre. Some sections are even covered with stone slabs to make walking easier. A steep descent through the forest leads to the Alpe del Casone, a pretty alp surrounded by steep rock faces. During the summer months, cheese can be bought from the alpine farmers of the various alps. Take the natural road to the quarry and then the asphalt road along the Ribo stream to Vergeletto. At Vergeletto the bus leaves (check departure times, change at Russo) and you can visit the mill where the famous Farina Bóna maize flour is produced.

Attention: In the area around the Capanna Alpe d'Arena hut, there are herds protected by livestock guardian dogs.
