The hike impresses with an extraordinary panoramic view, impressive mountain scenery, and stunning alpine flora. From the summit of Lackenkogel, the "local mountain" of Altenmarkt, a beautiful panoramic view opens up over the surrounding mountains: Hoher Dachstein - Bischofsmütze, Hochkönig, Tennengebirge, and Hohe Tauern with the Großglockner.
From the starting point Zauchensee, you follow trail no. 86 to Rosskopf. The ridge trail goes slightly up and down to Lackenkogel at 2,051 m. On the descent towards Altenmarkt, you pass the Lackenalms, the mountain inn Sattelbauer, and the mountain inn Winterbauer.
