The impressive Oranienburg Palace is one of the most important Baroque buildings in the Margraviate of Brandenburg. It symbolises the path of the Electorate of Brandenburg to royalty. The palace dates back to a country residence built in 1651 for the first wife of the Great Elector, Louise Henriette. Born Princess of Orange-Nassau, she also gave the place its name ‘Oranienburg’.
