Ideally situated between Prien am Chiemsee—home to the Lake Chiemsee boat service to the islands—and Bad Endorf, with its iodine thermal baths, the municipality of Rimsting is located on a scenic ridge overlooking the western shore of Lake Chiemsee. In addition to many hamlets, the municipality also includes the parish village of Greimharting at the foot of the Ratzinger Höhe (694 m). This hill is popular with many painters, photographers, and hikers for its fantastic view over the “Bavarian Sea” and the Chiemgau Alps.

The location on Lake Chiemsee, featuring the Rimsting natural beach (free admission), offers fun and relaxation for the whole family during the summer months. Here, in addition to the beach kiosk with a very large sunbathing lawn, you’ll find a children’s playground, beach volleyball, a small field for soccer and basketball, a slackline, table tennis, a bocce court, and boat rentals.
Rimsting also has its charm during the cold season. While nature takes its well-deserved winter rest, you can enjoy the magnificent snowy landscapes on a winter hike. And when Schafwaschener Bay freezes over, this part of Lake Chiemsee becomes a popular spot for ice skating on natural ice.

Many wonderful events featuring customs and traditions, as well as fine Bavarian cuisine, have their place in the traditional annual calendar.
Visits to Herreninsel with the castle of King Ludwig II of Bavaria or to the monastery and fishing island of Frauenchiemsee via the Chiemsee boat service are possible year-round.
