The hike leads you without significant climbs into the Saumagen vineyard located west of Kallstadt. You have a wonderful view over the Rhine plain to the Odenwald. A stylized Saumagen, which can always be easily seen on dark blue steel posts along the path, serves as the path logo.
From the Platz der 100 Weine, go right past the gymnasium and follow the Saumagen logo on the dark blue steel pillars first northwards towards Herxheim am Berg. The path makes a curve halfway up the slope and then leads southwards back to the road between Kallstadt and Leistadt. You cross the road (Caution: no crossing aid), turn right and follow the initially unpaved path uphill parallel to the road. Then take the first paved farm road left into the vineyards. At the first junction, keep left and after about 400 meters left again.
At the Kallstadter See, take a left again and after 100 meters right. You reach the outskirts of Kallstadt and turn left into Backhausgasse. Continue until you reach the traffic light at Leistadter Straße. Here, keep right towards St. Salvator Church. On the opposite side is the starting point, the Platz der 100 Weine.

The route often runs on so-called farm roads. These serve agricultural use and are used all year round by tractors and harvesting machines. We point out that the use of the paths is at your own risk and ask for mutual consideration in the interest of all. The farm roads can be dirty due to agricultural traffic. After rainy days and especially in winter, the paths can be damp and slippery.
The paths are partly unpaved and can be somewhat slippery in bad weather.
From the North:
Motorway A6 (Mannheim/Kaiserslautern, exit Grünstadt) towards Bad Dürkheim, on B271 (German Wine Route) via Herxheim am Berg to Kallstadt
From the South:
Motorway A61 at the Ludwigshafen junction onto A650 towards Bad Dürkheim. At the end of the expansion stretch straight ahead towards the industrial area Trift/Grünstadt. At the 2nd traffic light right towards Ungstein. At the roundabout the 3rd exit towards Ungstein/Grünstadt. After 50m right towards Kallstadt (B271).

Parking at the "Platz der 100 Weine" in the town center between the church and tourist information (parking time limited with parking disc from 12 p.m. for 3 hours) or parking at the cemetery (turn into Friedhofstraße at the height of the wine cooperative from the Weinstraße, parking possible without time limit).
