You drive through the nature park from Nassauwith its Nassau-Oranien castle enthroned high on the mountain to Obernhof, a place with a long wine-growing tradition. This tradition has recently experienced a real renaissance with the Bürgerweinberg vineyard. A bottle of Riesling or Pinot Noir is sure to fit in your pannier. With constant contact with the Lahn, the route continues to Laurenburg, from where you can cycle along the Lahn to Geilnau and Balduinstein via two newly built cycle and pedestrian bridges.
The Lahn meanders through wooded slopes and glistens in the sunlight. The little village of Balduinstein complements the marvellous scenery and so you reach Diez. Here, it is well worth stopping for refreshments in one of the lovely cafés and restaurants in the lively town centre. Limburgis an excellent alternative stage destination. Here, too, there are numerous places to stay overnight and stop for refreshments.
Diez is also home to romantic half-timbered facades, cosy cafés and restaurants. Alternatively, Limburg is a good stop-off point. The route initially heads uphill via Pfaffengasse and Oraniensteiner Straße. After just a few hundred metres, however, you turn left into the street "zum Mühlchen" and can now enjoy a more leisurely ride. At Staffel, you leave Rhineland-Palatinate and cycle on through Hesse. As in Diez, there are also numerous places to stay and eat in Limburg.
