A bike ride following the footsteps of Hildegard von Bingen, continuing on the Nahe cycle path towards Bad Sobernheim.
As soon as you leave Meisenheim and its beautiful historic old town, the vineyards become more present.
Always along the Glan, you reach Odernheim, whose monastery ruins on the Disibodenberg are closely linked with the history of Hildegard von Bingen. Here she created her first work “Scivias” in the peace and quiet of the Nahe region. The path to the Disibodenberg is signposted from the cycle path, but it is also somewhat demanding. It is only a few kilometres from there to Staudernheim, the recognised spa town on the Nahe. Here the Glan flows into the Nahe.
We recommend continuing to Bad Sobernheim on the Nahe cycle path: Under no circumstances should you miss the barefoot path and the Rhineland-Palatinate open-air museum in Bad Sobernheim.
Meisenheim - Raumbach - Rehborn - Odernheim am Glan - Staudernheim
The signposted route through the historic old town in Meisenheim leads to the former train station and from there onto the cycle path on the second track bed of the railway line. Parallel to the draisine, the cycle path runs through Raumbach up to the signal post in Rehborn (with garden restaurant). There it branches off to the right, crosses a historic stone bridge and runs through a road on the outskirts of Rehborn. The path then returns to the Glan and runs along an agricultural field path parallel to the railway line up to Odernheim. Here you turn left onto the main street and after a few metres turn right again towards Bannmühle. Parallel to the draisine, the path runs along an agricultural field path up to the junction to the Disibodenberg. There the cycle path changes to the railway line and leads to the Nahe. On the Nahe bridge, the path is guided over the narrow side paths in one-way traffic. Via a ramp you turn right to the foot of the slope, where the Glan-Blies cycle path meets the Nahe cycle path. Turn right and follow the path at the foot of the railway embankment to the Staudernheim station.
Tak
The route often runs through areas with little shade - remember to bring enough drinks and sun protection.
