The Giro dell'Orsiera G.O. Trail Stage 1: Molè - Rifugio Balma

You go uphill along the ridge of a moraine and a long slight slope up to approximately 1450 m where the noticeboards of the border of the Orsiera Rocciavrè Natural Park are located and the woods are replaced by open spaces. You then briefly flank the Balma stream, up to a large fountain, from which you go up with hairpin bends towards the north and the view opens onto a landscape dominated by rocky walls: on the right (orographic left) the Rocca di Bauti (1724 m), on the left (orographic right) the Rocca Tana dell'Orso (1708 m). The path continues halfway up the slope, high above the stream, and bends to the left, until it passes the front rocky buttresses (Cara d'Uslur). Following an uphill stretch with some hairpin bends, after about 20 minutes you reach the Balma refuge.
