Historic Mountain Streets | Madonna delle Finestre Road

From the locality of San Giacomo di Entracque, near the hostel and restaurant 'Baita Monte Gelas', take the dirt road that enters the beech forest and climbs in succession through Gias Cucetta, Gias Isterpis (today the only one used) and Gias della Siula.

In the vicinity of the Gias della Siula is the site of the Piazzale dei Cannoni. Continue following the road that passes the narrow notch of the Passo di Peirastretta 1630 m, crosses the junction for the Colle delle Fenestrelle and then reaches the Piano del Praiet.

The Soria refuge at 1840 m is quickly reached by following the route of the road. For the Colle continue in the direction of the head of the valley, climb up a series of hairpin bends and at the junction for Pera de Fener continue to the right along the main mule track that winds its way through scree up to Colle delle Finestre at 2471 m.
