Maraval trail - dune section

To the east of Cordes, there is a special valley that attracts attention and piques curiosity. Along the D600 towards Marnaves, a small communal road leads visitors to an unusual site. From the recently built parking area, the walker enters a trail covered by a cool understory where the beginnings of a characteristic ochre substrate appear on the ground. Thanks to a terrain drop, the atmosphere changes radically, the landscape opens up to a succession of “dunes” and canyons with unique colors and shapes in the Tarn. Classified as a Sensitive Natural Area by the Departmental Council, the Maraval dunes offer walkers a total change of scenery; however, be careful as the area remains fragile and subject to increasing human pressure.
