Saint James' Way Trail

DEPARTURE At Saint-Amadou, take the first street on the right after the cemetery (RD 511).
Leave RD 511 to take a path on the left leading to the old railway track, turn right, pass in front of the old gatekeeper's house (marked 12 bis on the facade).
Continue straight ahead, then after 400 m leave the old railway by taking a path on the left that climbs into the woods, direction Ludiès. At the exit of the woods, turn left to join the nearby village. The path becomes a street
and leads to the entrance of Ludiès. Turn right towards the Square and continue on RD 511 (direction Le Carlaret), 100 m after leave the departmental road to take a path on the right. Follow this path, cross the stream and climb towards Le Carlaret. At the entrance to the village, at the level of the church, turn left then immediately right onto a path traced between the sheds of a farm. Lower down, at the crossroads, take the path that goes down to
the right. After 150 m turn left to climb towards the old railway, go under the bridge to reach the paved road. At the intersection with another road, turn left then immediately right onto the old railway bordered by hedges. Passing one of the bridges you notice, on the right side, a lock. At the level of a third gatekeeper's house (marked 9 on the facade) leave the old railway and cross RD 511 to turn left towards the Paucou farm. After 600 m take a path on the left at the farm. Follow this path disregarding a first path opening to the left, then a second opening to the right. Reach the paved road and continue straight on a dirt track. At the intersection with RD 29, cross and continue straight. At the level of the river (Crieu) cross the Riveneuve bridge and follow the paved road to RD 11. Turn left and go under the highway bridge, you enter the town of Pamiers. Continue straight. Cross the level crossing and descend to the traffic lights - Possibility to discover the marked Jacquaire route in downtown Pamiers - otherwise turn left, direction Tourist Office, following the canal. Cross the Park along the canal. At the park exit go straight on Cours Rambaud, continuing along rue Saint-Vincent, to the Pont Neuf over the Ariège, which you cross. Then follow, turning left after Barès path, the second ascending street. Continue to the Barès parking lot. There, take the trail marked in white and red to the Church of Mas Vieux at Cailloup. After the building, continue straight on the path to the Ariège then climb towards the hillside to join the undergrowth. Engage in the steep climb to reach a drivable track on the ridge, a few meters from a telecommunications relay.
Turn left and follow this track for 500 m then turn left to take a path in the undergrowth opening onto RD 711.
At the exit onto RD 711, turn left towards Rieux de Pelleport.
After 300 m, take a paved road to the right to climb towards the water tower. Follow this paved road for 2.5 km to the Bigourda farm.
Pass between the farm buildings and take a dirt path. Follow it to a paved road. Enter this road and descend to an intersection, turn left towards the bridge over the Estrique river. Continue towards the village of Saint-Victor-Rouzaud.
