A varied route with open spaces, forests, views, and excellent places to stop for refreshment in the west of Brilon.
In addition to the Altenbürener Mühle and the Hiebammen Hütte, the route also passes through the two Brilon districts of Altenbüren and Esshoff.
From the starting point Marktplatz Brilon, head west into Strackestraße until you reach cycle junction 48. From there, go towards cycle junction 51 (turn right into Rixener Straße). At junction 51, the cycle path continues west towards Altenbüren/junction 17. After about 3 km, once you reach the first houses above Altenbüren, the route diverges from the official cycle path to the right, passing the farmstead and then turning left onto K57. Cross this road, and after about 2 km you will reach the hiking car park Altenbürener Mühle (opening hours Wed. - Sun. from 12:00 pm). After a refreshment, continue from the hiking car park towards Esshoff (towards junction 19). Upon arrival in Esshoff, the route turns left, going up a short incline towards Altenbüren.
At the entrance to Altenbüren (company BMS), the route meets the official cycle network again. Follow this through Altenbüren towards Brilon until junction 11. At this junction, keep right past the quarry on the cycle network to the Hiebammen Hütte (opening hours: Thu. from 5:00 pm, Fri./Sat. from 12:00 pm, Sun. from 11:00 am).
Then the Burhagener Weg on the cycle network leads back to cycle junction 48 and onward to the starting point - Brilon Market Square.
