Uhu Bubo guides you on a short 1.5 km round route through the nature reserve “Oaks and Beech Forests in the Göhrde”. If you follow the blue owl symbol, you will enjoy a roughly 30-minute walk. On forest paths with soft ground, you will encounter various forest scenes and beautiful old tree shapes. The old forest ranger oak, the tall larch, and the thick pines invite contemplative lingering. In earlier times, the Göhrde was a feudal protected forest where the high nobility went hunting. This preserved the forest from the clearings of the late Middle Ages. Otherwise, it might have become part of the Lüneburg Heath.
Due to the extensive forest continuum, many animal and plant species that have long since disappeared elsewhere can still be found here, such as the stag beetle and the bearded tooth fungus. Today, the Göhrde Forestry Office of the Lower Saxony State Forests is responsible for the care and management of this forest.
The hike starts at the parking lot of the Lower Saxony Forestry Office Göhrde
