The 85-kilometer circular route "Castles and Manors" connects various castles, manors, and fortresses in the picturesque Schaumburg region. It starts at the market square in Bückeburg, from where you can visit the Bückeburg Residential Palace, the Mausoleum, and the Princely Court Riding School Bückeburg. Next, proceed to Große Klus, the hunting lodge of Princess Juliane in a former English garden landscape. In the spa town of Bad Eilsen, discover the famous spa park.
Passing Arensburg, a fortress from the 14th century, the route goes to Schaumburg Castle with its impressive view over the Weser valley. The path then leads down to the Weser, past Exten to the well-known Möllenbeck monastery, the monastic complex of a former Benedictine foundation. On the way back to Bückeburg, another highlight awaits: the half-timbered town of Rinteln. The former university town is characterized by noble courts, merchant houses, and the Eulenburg Museum.
The cycling route starts in Bückeburg at the market square, close to the castle and its other sights in the old town. The ride then heads out of town along Mindener Straße towards Röcke and Petzen. Via Nordring and Pfahlwinkel, you reach Eveser Straße, which you follow to the church. Then head back along Eveser Straße to Röcker Straße, which you take right towards Große Klus.
Through Große Klus, you pass Gevatter See and Bruchwiesen to Schaumburger Straße, which you follow right through Evesen. On field paths, you now return to Bückeburg. Passing the train station, you cross Bückeburg on Jetenburger Straße and after the roundabout follow the street "Im Winkel" and a small footpath to leave Bückeburg on Ahnser Straße. North past Ahnsen, you go via Obernkirchener Straße to Bad Eilsen. You cross the town on Bückeburger Straße until you turn into Harrlallee and follow Schulstraße. Over the Auenwanderweg you continue to Arensburg.
In Steinbergen, follow Messingbergstraße and reach the path that you follow along the Weserberge to Schaumburg. Then there is a steep descent towards the Weser. On the Weser cycle path, you now ride from Großenwieden towards Engern. After crossing the Weser, follow Weserwall to cross the Exter bridges to Exten. Then you pass the iron hammers through Uchtdorf and Hessendorf to Möllenbeck. From there, go over meadows and fields back to Rinteln. On Waldkaterallee you head out of town to reach Bückeburg again from Steinbergen along Auewanderweg and the Harrl.
