Loccum-Volkenroda Pilgrimage Route Stage 03

From Rehren in Auetal, it goes under the A2 for 2 km to Rannenberg. A field path leads 500 m up to the forest edge and then 1 km through the Weser mountains, initially along a small stream, then near the Hünenburg to the Rohdental forest bath. Now it goes in a loop behind the bath on a narrow footpath, past Rohden, almost 2 km to the road to Hessisch Oldendorf. But just a short distance further, the pilgrimage route turns directly into Segelhorst. There, you walk 1 km up a small road towards Barksen. Even before Barksen, a field path leads down from the road again. Now it goes 1 km along a small, very beautiful stream valley to the Baxmannbad, where the pilgrimage route reaches a road again. This leads to the edge of the old town of Hessisch Oldendorf. Since the path by the stream between Segelhorst and Hessisch Oldendorf is often muddy, you can also take a foot and cycle path in Segelhorst (shorter route), which runs directly next to the country road to Hessisch Oldendorf. This stretch is also recommended for cyclists. The small town offers all amenities for an extensive break. The pilgrimage route continues from Hessisch Oldendorf to the 2 km distant Krückeberg, to pass the Stau estate after another 2 km. Nearby is Weibeck, where a noteworthy Romanesque church from the 11th century can be visited. Only 1 km from the Stau estate is the Fischbeck monastery. With its attached tower, it is soon clearly visible behind Hessisch Oldendorf.
